Who is TurboCoach?

TurboCoach is Kai Taylor.

The first two decades of my career were spent managing international 5-star hotels and cruise liners. The interactions with passengers, guests and staff alike have proven to be a solid foundation for successfully connecting with people from all walks of life, nationalities, faiths and interests.

I have worked at Senior Executive level for large commercial enterprises with thousands of employees and was responsible for nationwide networks with over 30 locations around the country. I have worked on four continents and speak four languages fluently.

A ‘gap year’ of travelling the Australian Outback confirmed to me my strong desire to contribute in a meaningful and significant way to New Zealand’s society by way of helping people become more fulfilled and successful in their work. This is truly my passion, and my clients are my top priority.

A further decade later, which was spent in a variety of public sector agencies, I completed dedicated coach training with the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership (IECL) of Australia and I am now an officially certified Organisational Coach. The nerd in my thought it would be great to study this subject matter a bit more in-depth and now I hold a Postgraduate Certification in Organisational Coaching and Leadership from the Charles Sturt University in Sydney. I believe, this made me the first university certified Coach available in New Zealand. Additionally, I am an approved provider to the New Zealand Government via the AoG panel. Add to that quite a few accreditations, for example from Human Synergistics for their tools of LSI1+2 (similar to a 360 degree survey), GSI (Group Styles Inventory) and OCI + OEI (Organisational Culture and Effectiveness Inventories). Together, my on-the-job experience, my academic studies as well as my industry leading accreditation to a variety of tools from many different companies gives me the full suite of capabilities to ensure my clients achieve their goals they set out to reach.

What’s the story about the name of this company?

In 2012 and 2014 I won Targa New Zealand’s Index of Performance of the 4-wheel-drive category as a co-driver. There are also some 2nd and 3rd placings in the 4-wheel-drive restricted category of Targa Rotorua between 2012 and 2014. ‘Targa’ is a tarmac rally on closed roads. I placed 4th in Rally Taranaki in 2013 and can confirm that 4th is the worst placing you can get – oh so close, but no trophy.

In 2015 a race accident meant no more rallying for me. Far from leaving the sport I love, I decided to build on the experiences gained from my successful motor sport career and combined it with my professional background to create TurboCoach.

I know what it takes to win and have shown this as recent as in September 2025, when I won the Winter Series of the Sual Sprints at the Taupo Car Club against over 120 other competitors. If you put all of this together, I know how to beat the competition and can help you too, by navigating through challenges and unknown territories – at speed.  Not a bad qualification for a coach.
